SALEM, Va. -

The Salem Museum is honored to host interviews this week for the US Army's Sgt. Audie Murphy Award.

This honor goes to the best of the best of non-commissioned officers, and is named for the most highly decorated soldier of WWII who died in a plane crash not far from Salem.

The candidates sit through a two hour rigorous examination to determine their eligibility.

Sixteen sergeants must sing the Army Song, cite the Audie Murphy's biography, the NCO creed, the Army Creed, go through a uniform inspection, and answer questions from 22 categories.

It is an privilege to host the Army and to have these American heroes in Salem this week!
