Sheriff's deputies say DNA testing has identified the remains found inside a burned-out car.

Franklin County investigators say the remains are those of Vicky Harbour Purdy.  She was 53 years old and from Henry County.  A news release from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office did not list a cause of death.  Investigators later said the vehicle was a 2004 Toyota Corolla registered to Vicky Purdy and her husband.  They said the cause of the fire was still being investigated.

WDBJ7 reporter Frankie Jupiter spoke to Purdy's husband at the couple's home in the Bassett area.  Purdy's husband, who did not want his first name used, said he last saw Vicky at home on October 3rd.  She said she was going out for a short while but never came back.  Purdy's husband said the two had been married 20 years and she had just started a new job.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office confirms that Vicky Purdy was reported missing by her husband.  The vehicle was found October 6th on Philpott Road in Franklin County.  The area is not far from the Franklin/Henry County line.  Investigators have asked for help figuring out when the fire happened.   They consider the case suspicious.
