Some young people in Roanoke County have been playing their music in front of their peers for a great cause Saturday night.
Bandfest was held at Northside High School. Six bands were competing for money and bragging rights
Middle and high school students have been showing off their musical talent and encouraging others to follow their dreams and avoid risky behavior.
"Man it's amazing," says Tyler Langhorn, President of Northside's Student Advisory Council. "The whole message is about being positive this year and positive risk and of course avoiding drugs and alcohol .This is positive risk getting on stage in front of people and it's a positive high."
Getting into Bandfest tonight was cheaper for folks who brought 2 cans of food. Organizers say that food will be sent to Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
