Two hundred high school students in Bedford County got some extra driver training Friday.

Over the past four years, more than a dozen students have died in car accidents in Bedford County.

The biggest lesson Friday was teaching students ways to help each other drive safer.

“What this is is to promote positive peer pressure among their friends to help make them make smart decisions behind the wheel of a car,” School Resource Officer, Corporal Ryan Hilbish, said.

Each of the three Bedford County high schools received a thousand dollars to support safe driving programs.
