BEDFORD, Va. -

Some empty buildings in Bedford are getting a new tenant.

Lutheran Family Services, a Roanoke-based non-profit, will lease four cottages on Falling Creek Road that are owned by the county.

The facilities were built seven years ago to serve as group homes for social services.

Low demand ended the program last year, leaving the county with more than a million dollars of debt on the property.

Lutheran Family Services will pay the county more than $120,000 a year to lease the cottages.
