BEDFORD, Va. -

Bedford County supervisors have settled on the type of school they'd like to build.

At a meeting Monday night, supervisors informally committed to fund a new middle school for the Liberty zone.

The facility will fulfill an agreement that was made when the city of Bedford reverted to a town last year.

Some parents and community members wanted a new high school, but supervisors felt a middle school would be more affordable.

The new school is estimated to cost between $30-million and $40-million.

Bedford County's school board will set a timetable for construction.
