LYNCHBURG, Va. -

Students from the middle east are learning about life in the middle of Virginia.

34 young adults from Saudi Arabia are spending the month in the Lynchburg area.

They're part of the Saudi Young Leaders Exchange Program organized by Legacy International, which is based in Bedford.

Participants are learning about volunteerism in the United States by observing community service programs at places like Camp Kum-Ba-Yah.

"The whole volunteerism and community service in the US is very inspiring," said Mohammad Al Kharraz, a student participating in the exchange program.  "It's one of the great things about the US culture and the communities here." >>

The exchange program is supported by the US embassy in Saudi Arabia.

Participants are staying with Lynchburg families.  Their service projects are being organized by the office of community involvement at Lynchburg College.
