BEDFORD, Va. -

Kids are flexing their creative muscles at a summer camp in Bedford.

The Bower Center for the Arts is holding its 7th annual "Summer Arts Camp" this month.

Professional artists from the Bedford area are working with children ages eight to 12.  They're creating works in mediums that include clay, paint, and papier mache.  Some of the classes provide an overview of music and photography.

Organizers want participants to gain a new appreciation for the arts and maybe discover a hidden talent.

"A number of these classes offer the opportunity to not only have fun doing something, but also utilize some of the skills they pick up in school, such as math, problem solving, and analyzing," said Dotti Stone, a professional artist who is teaching classes at the camp.

The camp runs through July 25.  Organizers say there are still a few slots open for children who want to participate in next week's camp.
