UPDATE: Man hurt in Claytor Lake boating accident in Pulaski County dies
The man who was injured in a boating accident recently on Claytor Lake in Pulaski County has died.
James Downes had been on life support because of a brain injury he sustained from the accident.
His family tells WDBJ7 that Downes died Sunday night around 9 p.m. at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
According to investigators, a bass boat struck the pontoon boat Downes and his family were fishing in.
Funeral plans have not been set.

A man was sent to the hospital after a boating accident on Claytor Lake early Sunday morning.
James Downes is currently in critical condition and on life support at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after the accident that took place on Claytor Lake around 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
A bass boat and a pontoon boat ran into each other near the public boat ramp. A bass tournament was held on the lake on Saturday.
Downes' daughter and wife were also in the pontoon boat when the accident happened. Both walked away with minor injuries.
