The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries tranquilized the bear on Tuesday afternoon and removed the bear from the tree.

In cartoons bears steal picnic baskets, but in Botetourt County one cub won't come out of a tree.

Neighbors say this little bear has been in a Buchanan tree since early Saturday afternoon.

Mike Brown says one of his dogs treed the cub.

Even with fruit and water at the bottom, the little guy won't come down.

"I thought it was a cat in the tree, but my sister came out and said, 'Nah, you're eyesight's kinda bad. That's a bear.' So, I took another look, 'Yep, that's a bear.' So, he's been there for three-days," says Brown.

Brown is worried if this little guy doesn't come down soon, he'll starve to death.

He has contacted several agencies, but says they haven't been able to help.
