The Pulaski community came together Saturday night at The Refreshing Center Ministry to fill shoe boxes as part of the Operation Christmas Child program.

For four hours boxes were carefully packed with items to make the holidays a little bit brighter for children living in third world countries.

The boxes were filled with personal items, toys, candy and other gifts.

Volunteers ranged in age from young to old but all had one mission in mind.

"To show the love of God. Just because it's a door that opened where we can get in an administer. They actually call the box a go box, which is a gospel opportunity," organizer Karen Phibbs told Your Hometown News Leader.

The Operation Christmas Child program is sponsored by Samartian's Purse.
Some of the boxes will go to children in The Philippines devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.
