The Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Office has arrested Charles Bailey, a man who has eluded investigators for months.
When allegations of his inappropriate sexual contact with minors came out last year, Bailey left the state.
He had been missing since January 2013.
US Marshall's and other investigators caught up with him in Dry Fork on March 19th and arrested him.
Bailey is charged with 2 counts of Sexual Battery on a child under 12 and Distributing Obsence Material to a Minor.

DRY FORK, VA. – Charles Luther Bailey, 68, was arrested by The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, who are members of the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) in Roanoke. Bailey is charged with two counts of Sexual Battery on a child less than 12 years of age, and Distributing Obscene Material to a Minor since January 24, 2013.
When the Bailey’s first learned of the investigation, Charles fled the area. In January of 2013, the suspect’s wife reported Charles Bailey missing when the couple stopped at a store in Duette, Florida. The suspect fled the area with a pistol, threatening to kill himself. The investigation soon revealed that the wife filed a false Police Report and she had dropped Charles off in Parish, Florida. Charles Bailey’s whereabouts have been sought since.
While working with the U.S. Marshal’s Office, Investigators learned that the wife had been making trips to the Dry Fork area in Virginia. Coordination was made with the U. S. Marshals led Task Force in Roanoke and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office to set up surveillance on Sportsman Road in Dry Fork, VA. Task Force Members located Charles at 1050 Sportsman Road in Dry Fork and arrested him without incident.
This arrest was a cooperative effort made by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Forces from both Florida and Virginia. These dedicated team members spend countless hours pursuing and capturing violent Fugitives and bringing them to Justice.
