DANVILLE, Va. -

State water regulators from Virginia and North Carolina say they'll be monitoring the river for health risks for several more years.

Duke Energy is developing plans to move coal ash ponds away from waterways as requested by North Carolina's governor.

Top officials have said customers, not investors, will pay for the one billion dollar move.

According to the North Carolina Utilities Commissioner, each customer is predicted to pay 50 to 75 cents a month for the next 10 to 15 years to cover the cost.
