A Bedford man who spent nearly five decades saving lives is receiving a posthumous honor.

Lynch Manley volunteered with the Bedford Life Saving Crew for 48 years.

Wednesday morning Congressman Robert Hurt presented Manley's wife, Julie, with a flag that flew over the United States Capitol.

Manley died in March at the age of 80.  In addition to his service as a first responder, he was also a longtime employee of Frank Chervan.
