A Craig County woman may owe her life to her grandsons after they rescued her from rushing water.

The family was crossing a low water bridge in New Castle overnight.

That's when the raging Craig Creek swept that woman off her feet.
Her grandsons didn't hesitate in going in after her.

"Me and my brother Robert here, we tried to go over in a canoe. We held her until fire and rescue and these fine gentlemen over here threw us a life vest and we pulled her back in," said Ryan Dovel.

After paddling to their grandmother in that canoe and securing the life vest around her, firefighters pulled all three family members to safety.

The woman and her grandsons escaped without any injuries.
