ROCKBRIDGE CO., Va. -

Five people were taken to the hospital after an accident in Rockbridge County this morning. 

It happened around 8:30 a.m. today on Interstate 81 North near Mile Marker 195.  

Traffic was backed up for about three miles while crews tried to clear the scene.

A truck pulling a cargo trailer ran off the road and overturned.  

Four of the people in the truck were children, but none of them suffered life-threatening injuries.

Motorists can expect delays of 1 mile.

Left lane reopened on I-81 northbound after morning crash.

A morning crash has shut down northbound Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the accident happened just before 9o'clock Sunday morning.

VDOT is reporting it's at mile marker 195.

Motorists can expect potential delays.

VDOT says the north left shoulder, left lane, right lane, and right shoulder are all closed.
