BLACKSBURG, Va. -

Update: Fire officials tell WDBJ7 they are still investigating the fire at the Foxridge Apartments in Blacksburg.  A cause of the fire has not been determined as of Friday afternoon.

Fire broke out in an apartment in one building at the apartment complex on Hunter's Mill Road Thursday around 5:30pm.  People nearby snapped photos and video of flames shooting out of the top floor and fully engulfing a balcony on the third level.

Many Virginia Tech students live in the Foxridge Apartments.   Ten students were displaced by the fire Thursday evening.

Fire crews worked to contain a fire at Foxridge Apartment complex in Blacksburg Thursday evening.

It happened on Hunter's Mill Road.

Ten college students who lived there were displaced by the fire.

A spokesperson with the American Red Cross tells us that disaster workers were on scene and are on standby to assist with relief efforts.

They're working with university officials to offer resources and help with the needs of students affected by the fire.
