The Roanoke Police Department has released the name of the man who was killed Monday night while walking on Elm Avenue.

Lyle Scott Eyler died when he was hit by a UPS truck. Eyler was 44. He was from Roanoke.

The Roanoke Police Department previously said its initial investigation found that Eyler may have been drinking at the time of the accident. Investigators are still waiting on toxicology results to verify that.

The incident is still under investigation.

According to Roanoke police, “the initial investigation indicates that alcohol may have been a factor with the pedestrian, and that will be verified as part of the investigation.”

The investigation is ongoing.
