DANVILLE, Va. -

More is typically a good thing, but "more" kids are putting a financial strain on the Danville Boys and Girls Club.

This year the Club has about 135 students in its after school program.

That's up 40 more students than last year.

The club is nearly out of school supplies after helping students prepare for this first week back.

They need thousand of dollars worth of supplies and donations.

"We really want to give these kids a high class experience everyday in this club so they will know what to expect, they know what they want for themselves in life, for their families in life," said Dave Thomas from the Danville Boys and Girls Club.

This school year the club started out in need, which usually isn't the case on the first week of school.

Leaders say they need everything from paper towels to ping pong balls, construction paper and batteries.
