A chef in Southern Virginia is mixing together the right ingredients for success.
Patrick Ruocco lives Danville and was recently part of a Food Network competition show called Restaurant Express.
He was the fifth person sent home on the show last Sunday. Since then he's gotten noticed around Southern Virginia.
"It's extremely surreal to hop on an airplane and fly out and not have a clue what you're going to be getting into. I didn't have a clue what I was getting into. I didn't know I was going to be on a bus with seven other chefs. But wouldn't trade it for the world. I would go back tomorrow if they asked me," Patrick Ruocco said.
Ruocco is a private chef. Working mostly as a caterer, teaches folks how to cook, and a waiter at a Danville restaurant.
He's worked in California and Louisiana and soon hopes to open a restaurant in Danville after getting so much recognition from the show.
