Danville Mall celebrates re-opening with new name, different look
Hull Storey Gibson Companies bought the mall last year and started a drastric renovation project.
What used to lack luster, is now shinning brightly in Danville.
The new owners of Danville Mall, formerly Piedmont Mall, cut the ribbon Friday morning, unveiling the newly renovated shopping center during a grand re-opening.
Besides a name change, it's gone through a lot of changes since Hull Storey Gibson Companies bought the mall last year.
Owners replaced everything from ceiling to floor and added pictures of historic Danville to cover empty stores.
"We want a first class shopping experience and frankly when we purchased this property, it was a little bit tired. We wanted to open up the corridors, we wanted to provide clear lines of view, we wanted to make sure our primary retail shoppers got a safe shopping experience," said Allen Grinalds, Director of Mall Operations for Hull Storey Gibson Companies.
There are more than 40 stores in the mall right now. Owners say new stores are moving in soon.
