DANVILLE, Va. -

Police in Danville want you to think twice the next time you swipe your credit card.

Investigators say there's been more than a dozen reports of identity theft in the last couple of weeks.

The cards are being used in other states. Police say check your online banking account frequently to catch bogus charges quickly.

Also, only log in to secured internet networks.

And when you make a payment, make sure the website address starts with HTTPS to indicate it's secure.

Police also want to remind you never give personal information over the phone or through email.
