ROANOKE, Va. -

It might still be months away, but already one group wants you to think pink.

Thousand came out for Roanoke's Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure earlier this year.

The event was a huge success and already organizers have set the date for the next one- April 12, 2014.

"Every year we see big jumps in our race for the cure. Last year, we had over 23-hundred participants and raised over 300-thousand dollars. of which, 75-percent stays right here in our community," says Janet Frantz, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Board President.

The other 25-percent goes to national research.

Locally, the organization just awarded 6-grants to help under-insured and uninsured women get mammograms.
