ROANOKE, Va. -

Three city council members and Mayor David Bowers reiterated their support for the Democratic candidate for governor Thursday morning.

Mayor Bowers likened Ken Cuccinelli's lack of support for the bipartisan Transportation Bill that passed earlier this year to the Republicans actions in Washington during the shutdown.

“Mr. Cuccinelli not only said he was against it, he's now saying he'll destroy it, he'll take it down, he'll defund it. I mean isn't that what we just saw in Washington?” Roanoke Mayor David Bowers said.

The Cuccinelli campaign responded saying: "Ken Cuccinelli opposed the transportation bill because he didn't think it was responsible to raise taxes on Virginians at a time of continued economic uncertainty. Cuccinelli's made very clear, however, that as governor, he will not block the law's implementation."
