A Richlands man has been arrested after police found a large amount of marijuana and guns at his home.
Roger Lee Sparks, age 38, is charged with:
- Manufacturing marijuana
- Possession of a firearm with more than a pound of marijuana
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession of ammunition by a felon
- Possession of marijuana with intent to sell or distribute
According to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found 115 marijuana plants, over a pound of marijuana and three firearms at Sparks’ home.
Investigators say they found a room that had been converted to grow marijuana plants.
Deputies say the value of the marijuana seized is worth $350,000.

Tazewell County Deputies arrested a Richlands man after finding 115 Marijuana plants, over a pound of harvested Marijuana, and three firearms in his residence. Roger Lee Sparks Jr., 38 years old, has been charged with manufacture marijuana, possession of a firearm with more than a pound of marijuana, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon, and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell or distribute. Following up on an investigation into drug activity, Deputy Andrew Jarvis obtained a Search Warrant and conducted a search of the residence of Mr. Sparks where he and other deputies found a room that had been converted to grow Marijuana plants. “The hard work of these deputies have prevented large amounts of Marijuana from going out and being sold on the streets.” Says Sheriff Brian Hieatt. A street value of the seized drugs would be $350,000.
Among other charges, Sparks has previously been charged with Robbery, Manufacture of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Distribution of Marijuana. Currently he is being held with No Bond at the Southwest Regional Jail Authority in Tazewell.
