The circus performer hurt during a performance Saturday in Roanoke is still in critical, but stable condition according to management at the Roanoke Civic Center. 

They say they remain hopeful he will recover.

A Kazim Shrine circus performance at the Roanoke Civic Center came to an abrupt end after a performer riding a motorcycle crashed into a concrete wall.

The rider landed on a ramp after the stunt and lost control.  He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

"We are awaiting word and hoping for positive news," Roanoke Civic Center general manager Robyn Schon said.

After the accident circus officials turned off the lights, and then asked everyone inside of the arena to leave. The accident happened during the final act of the 10 a.m. performance.  Saturday's 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. went on as scheduled. 

This is the second mishap with the Kazim Shrine Circus this week. On Thursday an RV caught on fire in the Roanoke Civic Center parking lot., causing $200,000 in damage. Click here to read that story:
