A Salem woman has been charged after a five-vehicle chain-reaction accident on Interstate 81 in Roanoke County on Friday morning.
According to Virginia State Police, the accident started when 23-year-old Lindsay Dowdy rear-ended a car in front of her around 8 a.m. The Acura Integra that Dowdy hit then ran off the left side of the road and hit a guard rail, before coming back onto the road and hitting a Honda Civic and a Kia Spectra. The Kia then hit a Honda Accord.
No one was hurt in the accident.
The left lane of I-81 South was closed for about 45 minutes. Dowdy has been charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain control.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says there are several cars involved in an accident on Southbound Interstate 81 near the Salem exit.
VDOT says the southbound left lane is closed right now.
