UPDATE: A grand jury certified charges Monday against two Roanoke men in relation to the murder of Derek Price.

Both Hakeem Germany, 25, of Roanoke and Deonte Manning, also 25, of Roanoke are now charged with first degree murder.

Price was found with a gunshot wound to the midsection in the 2700 block of Centre Avenue near Landsdowne Park in Roanoke on the morning of September 21.

He was later pronounced dead at the scene.


Two men have been arrested in connection to a Roanoke murder.

Deontae Manning and Hakeem Germany have both been charged for the shooting death of Derek Price on Sept. 21.

Manning has been charged with second-degree murder. Germany is charged with principle in the second degree to second-murder. Manning and Germany are both 25 and from Roanoke.

Both suspects are being held in the Roanoke City Jail without bond.

Price, 41, was found dead in the 2700 block of Centre Avenue, which is near Landsdowne Park.

Roanoke Police are investigating after neighbors say a body was found around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police identified the victim as Derek R. Price, 41, of Roanoke.

According to a news release, the Roanoke Police Department responded to the 2700 block of Centre Avenue, near Lansdowne Park after receiving a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, one man was lying in the street suffering from a wound to the mid-section.

The victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

WDBJ7's Susan Bahorich was on the scene and says over 49 pieces of evidence were marked on Centre Avenue and Milton Road.

The case is under investigation. No arrests have been made.
