ROANOKE,Va. -

Religious and community groups gather Saturday morning for a day of training for religious and urban youth workers in our region.

Their goal is to communicate better with young people in their hometowns. The group met this morning at the William Memorial Baptist Church. Not only are leaders trying to reach the youth, they are also hoping to build bridges between the inner city churches and organizations in the Roanoke community.

“It's critical to reach into young people. Building relationships; spending time with them, not just the program but actually having volunteers and staff that are willing to spend time outside of those programs,” said Acts 2 Ministry Executive Director David Peck.

The seminar featured Marvin Daniels, the Senior Director of Leadership Training at Kids Across America.
