WASHINGTON CO., Va. -

A motorhome carrying rescue 70 rescue dogs crashed Saturday morning on Interstate 81 in Washington County.

All of the animals were in portable kennels. No one was hurt. One dog suffered minor injuries.

According to Virginia State Police, the motorhome was on I-81 North in Washington County near Exit 24 in Washington County when the driver tried to avoid a vehicle in front of her. The driver, 45-year-old Karen Carlisle of Arkansas, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn on its passenger side.

Carlisle was charged with reckless driving. The animals were taken from the scene into the care of the Washington County Animal Control Division. The rescue dogs were headed from Arkansas to Maine when the crash occurred.
