Many of our local roadways were treated with a salt solution, before last week’s snow fall. The hope was to keep the snow from turning into black ice. Though the solution helps drivers on the road, it could cause damage to your vehicle.

Salt corrodes metal, which can cause deterioration of a vehicle’s frame. Car detailers say you should have the undercarriage of your vehicle cleaned every so often to prevent unseen and visible cosmetic damage.

“What it can do is, just say you're walking and the salt is on your car, you just come by and you wipe it that salt can scratch your car because it's very abrasive,” said Quality Detailing Owner, Philip Palmer.

Palmer says keeping a good wax on your vehicle will help to protect it.
