GLES Placed on Brief Lockdown as Precautionary Measure
This morning Gilbert Linkous Elementary School was placed into lockdown briefly after a visitor did not follow proper check-in procedure. Once the visitor was identified and it was determined that there was no cause for concern, the lockdown was lifted.

The Blacksburg Police Department responded immediately to the lockdown and provided assistance in identifying the visitor and ensuring student safety during the lockdown.

The school day has resumed and students are on their normal schedule.
