Join the Dan River Basin Association as we celebrate National Environmental Education Week at Philpott Lake on Saturday, April 19, from 1-4 p.m.
Organizations from the area will be on hand to share information about conservation and preservation of our natural resources and sustainable living.
At the Environmental Expo, you will have the opportunity to experience nature at its best at the beautiful Philpott Lake.
Organizations attending the Expo include:
*CCSB Reptile Rescue--with animals for adoption and for only $5 individuals will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with either a 2 1/2 foot crocodile, 3 1/2 foot alligator or 12 foot albino Burmese python (individuals must provide their own cameras.)
*SPCA of Martinsville-Henry County-- with animals for adoption
*Infinity Acres Petting Ranch
*Dan River Basin Association
*Friends of Jamison Mill with hot dogs and barbecue
*Smith River Trout Unlimited will have fly casting and tying demonstrations
There also will be a plant sale during the Expo.
The event is hosted by the Dan River Basin Association’s “Friends of the Lake” and sponsored by the U.S. Army of Engineers.
The Environmental Education Expo is free and open to the public.
The mission of the Dan River Basin Association is to preserve and promote the natural and cultural resources of the Dan River Basin through stewardship, recreation and education.
