ROANOKE, Va. -

Expansion of the Raleigh Court Branch Library is moving forward in Roanoke.
Monday evening, the project's architect shared the latest plans with the neighborhood.

The branch is located on Grandin Road beside Patrick Henry High School. The expansion will double the size of the building.

Monday morning, architect Peter Bolek explained the plans to members of city council. "In the city hall there is a rendering of the existing building, it was built in 1965, and that combined with the architecture of the school was really striking to me." Bolek told WDBJ7. "And as we heard from the community, we were able to take elements of both those civic buildings."

Construction will begin after the main library reopens later this year. The Raleigh Court branch will be closed for about a year.
