ROANOKE, Va. -

After being closed for almost two years, one of Roanoke's most famous restaurants will be torn down.

The Little Chef on the corner of Williamson Road and Orange Avenue is expected to come down after finishing asbestos testing.

We're told the property had become too tough to maintain and no one was interested in buying it.  The property is owned by the car repair shop next door.

A friend of the owner says the decision to tear down a Roanoke institution was tough.

"It wasn't an easy decision he had to make but we had to go do something because of the building getting in bad shape, and it's just hard, nobody could really go in and fix it up," said Glen Hill, who works for the landowner.

Hill tells WDBJ7 that a decision hasn't been made about what will replace The Little Chef.
