Ferrum College is celebrating a milestone this weekend, 100 years of education.
The school has been through many changes since its establishment in 1913. The changes have helped moved the school forward.
Some alumni are heading back to a campus that maybe a little different from what they remembered when they graduated. Students, alumni and staff are attending the colleges Centennial Celebration. Visitors can look forward a parade, music, and exhibits, all while reflecting on history.
“It's amazing to see how this institute started with a few building; now has become such a great college and brought in such a great impact to young people, said relative to the school’s first president, Steve Lavinder.
What a great event, to talk about all the things that we've been, who we are now, and who we will be. It's a great intersection of time of past and certainly a hopeful future, said school president, Jennifer Braaten.
The Panther Tracks 5k Run/Walk is scheduled for Saturday. It benefits the Saint James United Methodist Church Food Bank and Cystic Fibrosis.
