Saturday, August 23rd, the North Roanoke Rec Club held a field naming ceremony at Waldron Park.
The football field there is now officially named for Bobby Ragland, in honor of his achievements as a legendary youth coach in three different sports.
The 79-year-old has dedicated over four decades of his life to guiding children of the area in football, basketball, and baseball.
Back in June, the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors officially named the field after Coach Ragland.
People turned out for the dedication ceremony, which included the unveiling of field's sign and a bronze plaque recognizing Coach Ragland, as well as his final game.
