HALIFAX CO., Va. -

Former Halifax County Sheriff Stanley Noblin was sentenced Thursday morning for embezzling money from his own department.

Noblin was sentenced to ten months in jail, with seven years probation, five of which are unsupervised.

Additionally, Noblin agreed to pay $1,000 per month until he reaches $103,930.38. This is the amount that he embezzled from the Halifax County Sheriff's Office in 2007.

A grand jury indicted him on 21 counts of embezzlement last November.
