FRANKLIN CO., Va. -

A bridge in Franklin County has been renamed for the only soldier from the county to die in the Iraq war.

Jared Kubasak was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq in 2005. The bridge over the Pigg River on Route 40 West has been renamed for Kubasak. The bridge is just west of the intersection of Route 40 West and Six Mile Post.

A special sign was given to Kubasak's family. Friends, family, and local leaders paid their respects to him Wednesday. The color guard and members of the Franklin County ROTC program also gave him a special salute.

WDBJ7's Nadia Singh was at the ceremony. Check back later for more updates.
