A local university is expecting to give away more than $200,000 worth of health services and procedures for free.
Southern Virginia University in Buena Vista is gearing up for its third Remote Area Medical or RAM health clinic.
Services include fillings, extractions, cleanings, men’s and women’s health exams and even free prescription glasses.
Everyone is welcome and no proof of income is needed.
Organizers said people in the area depend on this clinic.
"I've seen so many people who can't get treatment any other way,” said organizer Ryan Sloan. “Somebody comes in with a toothache that's been bothering them for months and it's the only way they can get treatment and to see them walk out of the clinic and feel relief. It's priceless."
The clinic is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
The clinic opens at 6 a.m. each morning and early arrival is encouraged. Patients are seen on a first come first served basis, according to the organizers.
If you plan on attending, please bring a list of your current medications, current eye glass prescription, water and snacks and cold weather clothing.
If you have any questions, call 540-261-8400 or email email@example.com
The clinic expects to see about 800 patients and some will receive multiple procedures.
All the services will be performed by licensed medical professionals that have offered to donate their time.
The clinic will take place at Southern Virginia University located at 1 University Hill Drive in Buena Vista.
