ROANOKE, Va. -

About two dozen people gathered in the dark to remember Derek Price on Wednesday night.

Price was shot and killed over the weekend. Friends, family and community members stood by candlelight in front of the Royal Deli along Melrose Avenue to remember the 41-year-old.

The owner of the deli said Price came by the shop just a few hours before he was killed.

It hasn't even been a week since Price was killed, but his family is holding on to hope that investigators will make an arrest in the case sooner than later.

Price's body was found around 4:30am on Saturday after shots rang out along Centre Avenue, near Lansdown Park.

Price's grandfather spoke to WDBJ 7 and said he was happy to see so many people come out to support his family in this time of need.

"I knew he had a lot of friends and I appreciate them coming it makes me feel good," said John Kasey.

More than 49 pieces of evidence were marked at the crime scene.

No arrests have been made in the case.
