Girls learned a whole new subject in school on Wednesday - how to "rock".

Preston Park Elementary School in Roanoke started a new program for fifth graders called "Girls Rock".

About 25 girls are in the club and meet once a week to discuss topics that will help with their transition from elementary to middle school.

Wednesday, several business women talked to the girls about their careers, including yours truly!

Girls also heard from doctors, marketing managers, nurses, and many other occupations.

"We learned that the hair salon owner has to study a lot of things. Chemistry to make sure you don't damage the hair," said Julie Vong.

Through the Girls Rock program they'll also learn about healthy eating, goal setting, social media safety, and the importance of positivity.
