ROANOKE, Va. -

Some Roanoke students are getting into the "swing" of things thanks to a grant.

A wheelchair accessible swing has been added at Fishburn Park Elementary.

Administrators say there are about 15-students at the school with mobility issues.

Up until now, using some playground equipment like the swings -just wasn't possible.

Special Ed teacher Matt Newton applied for the grant.

He says the swing is unique and seems to be the only one in the Roanoke Valley.

"It's just a way for them to be included in something that a lot of children take for granted, being able to swing in the playground when it's nice weather outside. Now everybody's able to do that, it brings them up to be able to participate at that level," says Newton.

The swing is available for public use after school hours.
