VINTON, Va. -

It's a big day for the town of Vinton. After months of preparation, construction is set to begin on the new library in the heart of downtown.

County and town leaders broke ground on the construction just a few hours ago.

$9 million will go toward building the facility along Pollard Street. Vinton Mayor Brad Grose says this is the first step in revitalizing downtown Vinton. The town is hoping to attract more people and business in its downtown district with this project.

They are aiming to have it built by fall 2015.
