MONTGOMERY CO., Va. -

A man has been shot on the first day of the general firearms season.

Investigators with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries tell WDBJ7- a Montgomery County man was shot this morning off of Brake Road in the Elliston area.

Sargent Charlie Mullins tells us the man was shot in the right arm while he was hunting.

Mullins says his injuries don't appear life threatening, but the department continues to search for clues.
