CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -

“Peeti”, the injured poodle found last week by the Christiansburg Police Department, is getting better each day and will be returning to a familiar home.

The dog underwent life-saving surgery at the Town and Country Veterinary Clinic in Christiansburg. It seems Peeti was attacked by a larger dog, but she also could have been hit by a car.

The Town of Christiansburg says after hearing Peeti’s story, numerous people gave donations and offered to adopt her. They even received calls from as far as Richmond with people hoping “Peeti” might be their missing dog.

Authorities tried to locate the dog’s current owners, but were unsuccessful. However, there was still hope for Peeti. The Town of Christiansburg says a local family had to re-home the poodle they had for six years because of unforeseen circumstances. That dog turned out to be, Peeti.

The dog’s former owners are now in a position to care for Peeti and are very excited to have her back home.

“Peeti was so excited to see her owner again; it was obvious she recognized her and was happy to be reunited,” Director of Public Relations Becky Wilburn, said. “For Peeti’s sake, placing her back in a home she knows and obviously misses is the best outcome for her at this time.”

Although the dog’s owners would like to remain anonymous, the Town of Christiansburg says they are appreciative of the support Peeti has received while she is healing. They were also able to cover the remaining cost for Peeti’s medical care. She is expected to make a full recovery.
