WYTHEVILLE, Va. -

People in Wythe County will see inmates picking up trash every Saturday year-round.

A new agreement between the county and the New River Valley Regional Jail, announced Tuesday, means up to eight inmates will work six hours every Saturday.  The first shift cleaned up a section of Fort Chiswell Road last weekend.

In the past, inmates worked in Wythe County only once a month, accord to Chief Deputy Keith Dunagan.

County officials say residents can suggest cleanup locations by contacting their representative on the Board of Supervisors or by emailing the county.
