ROANOKE, Va. -

Krispy Kreme will soon be back in business in Roanoke.

A spokesperson for the doughnut company says the chain signed a lease for a retail space in the Townside Festival Shopping Center on Franklin Road. This is across the road from Dunkin' Donuts. People around town say the have their favorite.

"It's the smell that gets you in the parking lot. Then you know you're going to get a melty, soft, hot doughnut. You got to have two or three really quick and eat them and you have your coffee, Krispy Kreme," said Sarah Ammerman.

"I have to say Dunkin' Donuts. It's just more flavor, you can actually taste the taste, there is no other better way," said Robert Bissell.

We're told this will be a temporary location. The company is still working to find a permanent spot to build a new store.

No word yet on when the temporary store will open.

Krispy Kreme's Melrose Avenue location went out of business after a fire heavily damaged the building in May.
