Starting Monday, lane closures will be put in place on Interstate 581 near Valley View Boulevard in Roanoke.
The right lane will be closed on I-581 North from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day through Friday, Aug. 8. Crews will be doing shoulder and excavation work.
Starting Monday night, the right and center lanes of I-581 North will be closed from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. the following morning. Crews will be paving the road through Friday.
Drivers should also be prepared for slow lane closures. During that time, traffic could be slowed or stopped for up to 20 minutes.

Weather permitting, day and nighttime lane closures will be in place on northbound I-581 in the area of Valley View Boulevard in Roanoke beginning Monday, Aug. 4.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 4, single right lane closure will be in place on northbound I-581 from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. each day through Friday, Aug. 8. The single lane closure is necessary for shoulder and excavation work.
Beginning Monday, Aug. 4, the right and center lanes of northbound I-581 will be closed from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. the following morning through Friday, Aug. 8 for paving.
In addition to the lane closures, slow rolls may take place on northbound I-581 during nighttime hours to move heavy equipment into place. During a slow roll law enforcement will slow or stop traffic for up to 20 minutes.
