LYNCHBURG, Va. -

A large military aircraft was seen flying over parts of Central and Southwest Virginia Friday, prompting questions from curious onlookers.

The United States Air Force conducted "touch-and-go" procedures with a C-17 Global Master Jet Friday.  The take off and landing practice is common and routinely held at both the Roanoke Blacksburg Regional Airport and Lynchburg Regional Airport, although not with this particular aircraft.

WDBJ7 captured images (above) of the plane flying over Wards Road in Lynchburg Friday.
